Nelson Mandela purged 27 years in prison

On 5 August 1962, Nelson Mandela was arrested and imprisoned in Johannesburg. A lawyer, he had been a member of the African National Congress (ANC) since 1944. His arrest followed seventeen months in hiding because he was one of the founders of the ANC's armed organization. Indeed, after several decades of peaceful struggle to no avail, some ANC leaders decided to wage an armed struggle against the apartheid laws introduced by the South African National Party government in 1948. Hitler imprisoned following the Munich putsch

After the German defeat in 1918, the mark had collapsed and was worthless. The Ruhr was occupied by the French army. These conditions allowed extremist movements to develop thanks to the difficulties and general discontent. Adopting Mussolini as his model, Hitler dreamed of being able to take power by a coup as Mussolini had succeeded with his "March on Rome". On 8 November 1923 with the support of a field marshal, he launched his SA to storm Munich, the capital of Bavaria. They failed on on 9 November against the police and lost sixteen men.
